  •  speaker or using curriculum. 
  •  Gather a table for the Chastity Education Initiative Benefit! Place in bulletin.

 27          Commissioning, Training and Mass @ St. Paul of the Cross

  • Receive U.S.C.C.B. Liturgy guide provided by The Respect Life Office.  Materials can also be found online at www.usccb.org.
  • Continue planning Respect Life Sunday / RL Month with Pastor & Committee.
  • Ask your Pastor if your parish could adopt a day or a half-day for 40 Days for Life.
  • Begin recruiting for your parish date for 40 Days for Life.
  • Promote Chastity Education Initiative Benefit Dinner.

  • Meet with Pastor to review Respect Life Sunday liturgy from the U.S.C.C.B.
  • Plan General Intercessions on Respect Life themes. (Use USCCB resources.)
  • Meet with parish school faculty and religious education faculty to plan respect life essay contest.
  • Meet with parish prayer groups to request prayers for Respect Life Month.
  • Prepare bulletin board display for October.  Make banner for Respect Life Month.
  • Request free brochures for the pamphlet rack at church from the Respect Life Office.
  • Promote 40 Days for Life.
  • Advertise “Celebration of Life Mass” in bulletin and through pulpit announcements.

  • Share March for Life Pilgrimage materials and Youth Rally materials with Parish DRE & Youth Minister.

6            40 Days for Life Campaign Ends 

  • Start planning parish activities for Roe v. Wade anniversary on January 22nd: Parish prayer vigil for life,
  • educational events, etc. Tell Respect Life Office your parish’s plans! 
  • Plan Parish Activity for Holy Family Sunday Liturgy in January to celebrate families.
  • Promote the March for Life Pilgrimage to Washington D.C.
  • Promote Archdiocesan “Mass for Life” and parish “Vigils for Life”.
  • Promote March for Life Chicago and gather a bus load of parishioners.

28          Feast of Holy Innocents – Parish Activity: Host a special prayer service or Mass in honor of the Victims of abortion.

  • Plan for pro-life speaker during Lent.
  • Plan to attend SpeakOut Illinois, Archdiocesan Mass for Life and Youth Rally in January.  Place in Bulletin.

            Prepare to launch Spiritual Adoption in your parish.

            Feast of Presentation – Parish Activity: Arrange a special blessing for babies at Mass.

            Assemble group to pray at a local abortion clinic.  Call the Respect Life Office for details.

 

 
Ongoing Activities
*Grassroots Legislative Action – Recruit phone tree, Send out and act on legislative alerts.
*Committee Meetings – Recruit new members, plan events.
*Pro-Life Petitions & Bulletin Inserts for each Sunday of the year at USCCB website: www.usccb.org/prolife/liturgy/wolarchive.shtml
*Project Rachel phone number in bulletin throughout the year, brochures in women’s restroom
*Consider participating in Project Gabriel to assist expectant mothers in need.
*Work with parish school and religious education director and the Respect Life Office’s Chastity Education Initiative to bring in chastity speaker, use curricula and materials, etc.
*Take a group from the parish to pray at local abortion clinics.
*Assist a “preferred provider” pregnancy center by selling flowers after Masses or hosting a bassinet drive.
*Respect Life Office “Life Matters” radio show on first Wednesdays from 9-10 a.m. on AM 950, streaming online at www.archchicago.org.

USCCB “Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life Activities” states every parish should have pro-life activities in Prayer, Education, Pastoral Care and Public Policy.

Every parish in the Archdiocese should have activities at least for Respect Life Sunday in October and the Roe v. Wade anniversary in January.
